| Time flies! It's been five years since the Class of 2012 left SMU! It is time to reconnect and revive the friendships of yesteryears! One of the biggest SMU Constituent Bodies, generations of alumni have passed through SMU Sports Union, participating in some 40 land and sea sports. Those were great times sharing and celebrating the love of sports! To bring the fraternity together, an “Interaction Night” will be organised for the SSU family on 17th August 2017. SMU undergraduate Class of 2004 pioneer cohort alumna, Elfarina Zaid (BBM 2004), likes to take the road less travelled. A few years after graduation, she returned to SMU for another degree. She was in the pioneer cohort of SMU Master of Science in Innovation programme (MI 2013). Now an entrepreneur and a Professional Certified Coach, Elfarina shares with us her passion for mentoring and coaching, and how she overcame the challenges faced during her entrepreneurship journey.

Soon Kian Yong (BBM/BAcc 2012) and Yap Zhi Xin (BBM/BSc (Econs) 2011) met in SMU as dance partners pursuing their love for ballroom dancing. To ensure that the dancing never stops, they became partners for life! Together the dancing duo have won multiple awards at local and international dance competitions. Despite their hectic work and dance training schedules, they continue to volunteer their time coaching their ballroom dancing juniors in SMU. To maintain a cohesive alumni ballroom dancing community, they decided to set up the SMU Ballare Alumni Group this year. Hear from the duo as they share how they have benefited from experiences beyond the classroom.
