Valentine's Day Special: An SMU Love Story Over the course of SMU's short history, there have been innumerous instances of SMU being the birthplace of budding romances amongst students. In the spirit of celebrating our alumni couples this Valentine's Day, we speak to Kenneth Tan (BSc (Econ), 2009) & Chua Meimei (BBM, 2007) who first became acquainted at school where Meimei was Head Teaching Assistant (TA) of a course, and Kenneth was one of the TAs. Read on to learn how an unlikely couple overcame the odds - geographical distances, personality 'clashes', differing viewpoints - through humour, patience and mutual respect to build an enduring love. |

Over a dozen alumni flew in from Myanmar, Indonesia, and China to celebrate SMU's 19th anniversary of its founding at Patron's Day Dinner 2019, which was held at the School of Law on 25 January and graced by SMU Patron President Halimah Yacob. The event acknowledged the contributions of our overseas alumni in furthering SMU's global footprint. |
SMU alumni around the world took the opportunity to gather for Chinese New Year. Alumni in Shaanxi and Xiamen got together with their former classmates for games, barbeques, and other fun activities over the 25 - 26 Jan weekend, whilst alumni in London relived the taste of home with traditional dim sum on 2 Feb! |
