Charles Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities may have been set in London and Paris, but our alumni footprint extends far beyond these two cities. Today, SMU has 13 official overseas alumni chapters across three continents and eight countries, each built from the ground-up efforts of our alumni communities. This month, meet Gulshan Harjani (BBM 2005), President of SMU Indonesia Alumni Chapter and unofficial 'father figure' to our Indonesian alumni, being one of the first few alumni who moved to Jakarta. Equally passionate is President of SMU Shaanxi Alumni Chapter, Zhang Rong (MiM 2016), who stepped up in the mission of forming a chapter for the alumni in Northwest China.
Thanks to Gulshan and Zhang Rong, as well as dozens of Overseas Alumni Chapter Leaders and Overseas Alumni Representatives, our alumni can find ready contacts around the world, in a network that is still growing every year. If you reside overseas in a country which does not have an alumni chapter, and would like to start one (or be a representative for your city/country), please write to us (samwu@smu.edu.sg).
