32-year-old Dorcas Chang Ping, who graduated from SMU Juris Doctor Class of 2024, was formerly an administrator in a medical institution. She decided to pursue a career in law after the pandemic. She has been volunteering with non-profit international organisation Justice Without Borders and has been involved in cases that support migrant workers. Dorcas served over 175 pro bono hours – the highest in her JD cohort and well beyond the university’s 20-hour pro bono requirement. For her exemplary commitment, she was commended by SMU Pro Bono Centre (with the Amellia Moo Spirit of Pro Bono Hero (JD) Award). The SMU Pro Bono Centre offers pro bono Legal Clinics and the public can call a hotline for an appointment
