SMU alumni Lydon Ong and Norman Teo started manscaping brand BOVEM when they were both final-year business students at SMU. Lydon explained that trust does not have to be stuck with like-minded individuals who agree on everything. “But founder and co-founder need to have shared vision and values and trust one another to be on the same page when it comes to certain important stuff,” he noted. He highlighted how good communication is key to reaching a resolution that acts in the company’s interest. He also strongly advised looking for a co-founder with complementary skills and a shared vision, while setting boundaries and communication channels to make sure the business and relationship can thrive concurrently.
