Five years is not a very long time to be away from the university that you have graduated from but not a short time either. And during these five years, anything and everything could happen. The Class of 2010 alumni returned home to their alma mater for their 5th Year Reunion held at the SMU Li Ka Shing Library on 10 October 2015.
Over 111 alumni, faculty and staff were welcomed at the event with an opening video montage of the Class of 2010. The montage comprised of pictures of their student life and (gasp!) their matriculation photos back in 2006. Laughter abound as the alumni reminisce their good old days and saw how much each other has changed physically since then.
“It feels good to come back to SMU! The reunion was enjoyable and it is great to see old friends - people whom I have not seen since I have graduated” said Reuben Ong (BSocSc, Class of 2010).
SMU President Professor Arnoud De Meyer addressed the Class of 2010 alumni and reminded them that they were once students but now alumni for life. Anthony Chang (BBM) Chairperson of 2010 Reunion Committee was up next and he thanked everyone especially the people behind the scenes that made the event possible.
Emcee of the night and also Class of 2010 alum, Melvin Ho (BBM) cheered on the crowd and created much excitement and enthusiasm amongst the group with games, quizzes and conducting of lucky draw. 15 lucky winners walked away with the lucky draw prizes given out by Dr Francis Pavri from LKCSB and Director of Alumni Relations, Associate Professor Low Aik Meng by the end of the night.
“It is very nice to catch up with friends for such events like reunions. Perhaps the Alumni Office can even organise alumni roads trips for us to get-together!” chirped Nur Hazlin (BBM, Class of 2010).
