“It has been 10 years, oh my goodness, can you believe it has been 10 years?” exclaimed alumna Lim Kexin, Chairperson of the Organising Committee as she welcomed the Class of 2005 alumni who returned home to their alma mater for their 10th Year Reunion.
The reunion was aptly held on 10 October (10/10) with the theme “Strung Together for Good Times”. Over 110 alumni, faculty and staff reconnected with one another, bonded over food and drinks, and chatted till late at the event held at the SMU University Lounge.

After the welcome speech by Kexin, SMU President Professor Arnoud De Meyer addressed the crowd with “You were students for four years now you are alumni for life!” He also reiterated the importance of alumni, “You can make us an even greater University - an alma mater you can always be proud of.”
Chairman, SMU Board of Trustees and Guest-of-Honour Mr Ho Kwon Ping took the stage next and cheered on the audience as he asked, “Are you proud of the campus that you have graduated from?”, to which we heard a resounding “Yes!”. He continued, “The university is not its campus. What you love about the university is not the bricks and mortar but the campus in which your memories were built.” The Class of 2005 alumni spent their student years in the old campus of SMU on Evans Road at the edge of the Bukit Timah Campus.
“Thank you for being here tonight. Eat drink and be merry, and feel welcomed at SMU” Prof Arnoud reminded the group. And be merry the Class of 2005 did. The night went on with games and a live band by SoundFoundry comprised of alumni and students.
Supporting the class reunion committee for eight months was Associate Director, Office of Alumni Relations, Ivan Low. He shared “It was a privilege to work with Kexin and her team in bringing together ideas and concepts to fruition. The committee dedicated a great deal of their time and effort to create this milestone and unforgettable class reunion for our 2005 batch. I must credit the success of this homecoming event to them.”

“It’s amazing how nobody has changed but everything has! It is also amazing to see how people have so many layers to who they are now and it is great to see everyone again” said Danon The (BBM, Class of 2005).
As Kexin puts it, “Class of 2005, welcome home and remember we are always, always welcomed home."
