Hello and welcome to this quarter's edition of SMU CIRCLE.

Earlier this month, we held SMU Alumni Homecoming 2022 (#SMUHOCO22) which saw over 500 alumni and their guests on campus, catching up with each other at class and programme reunions, watching stage performances and an evening concert, taking campus tours, while the young ones busied themselves with the kids’ activities.

#SMUHOCO22 would not have been the success it was without the strong support and involvement of our alumni, and this edition of SMU CIRCLE highlights three stories from the day.  The first is an interview with Mario Ngawing (BSc IS 2019), who rallied other alumni to put up the stage performances and evening concert at #SMUHOCO22 .  Find out more about his journey in SMU and how it cemented his love for music and bands; and the camaraderie that has prompted him to step up for the University and his fellow-alumni.

The second story focuses on SMummies, an initiative by the SMU Alumni Association (SMUAA).  SMummies seeks to raise the awareness of full-time working mothers and the challenges faced, offering ideas and a support system for our alumnae who fall in that category, are thinking to embrace that experience, or are in positions of influence.

At a panel session at #SMUHOCO22, Jenny Chan Von Meyenberg (BBM 2007) moderated a discussion on these issues, and in this edition of SMU CIRCLE she is joined by others to share their thoughts, experiences, and ideas on how full-time working mothers can have it all.

And finally, Hexagon – the SMU alumni online community platform (https://hexagon.smu.edu.sg), was designed with you in mind with opportunities to connect over shared interests, spawn ideas and seek collaborations, post job offerings, sign up for events, and access alumni benefits through your digital alumni card. Launched at #SMUHOCO22, find out how you can contribute and benefit from this platform to build a stronger alumni network.
