Happy New Year 2016!
A new year brings about new beginnings! So in 2016, OAR together with SMUAA have lined up a long list of alumni events to connect you with your peers and your alma mater! Do peruse our calendar of events (from January to March), and save the dates in your schedule.
For this issue, we highlight two major events - Alumni Homecoming@ Patron's Day 2016 on 5th February where you can join in the celebrations of yet another successful year in SMU’s development. We will also witness the launch of the 12th run of our Alumni Mentoring Programme in February. Here's your chance to give back to your alma mater - by mentoring your juniors and ensuring that they continue to excel in life and careers, and perpetuate the SMU brand.
This year, in the “Spotlight on Alumni” column, we shall be showcasing our various Alumni Groups. These Alumni Groups are crucial in ensuring that our alumni community remains connected. Do get to know these school-based, interest-based, postgraduate and affinity alumni groups, as well as our Alumni Overseas Chapters, and join them. Whatever your interests and wherever you are, there is something for everyone.
We wait excitedly for the soft launch of Tonic-X, your very own alumni cafe by the SMU Alumni Association...happening very soon! Read more about the cafe in this issue. What's even more interesting, for those thinking of venturing into the F&B industry, is that there may be a chance to incubate and sell your food creations in Tonic-X!

There is now little reason for you not to come back to your alma mater! Take your pick from a suite of programmes that we have lined up especially for you from now till March – networking events, professional development workshops, reunions, and personal enrichment courses. Tonic-X, your very own Alumni Café, will soon be opening its doors at the SMU Concourse! It is the prelude to a “home of our own” for all SMU alumni. In the months and years ahead, it promises to be a venue for many alumni events. Tonic-X will boast mouth-watering creations by an alumni chef and an in-house chef (with over 30 years of experience), as well as delicious coffee concoctions from a latte art and barista Champion! We can't wait!
