On 7 March, Office of Alumni Relations together with JobKred, ran a Digital Career Guidance workshop with focus on the use of Artificial Intelligence. Twenty-five alumni professionals participated in the workshop. The session was facilitated by Daryl Lim, a Career Development practitioner with years of experience in training, coaching and consulting for a wide range of competency based services.
High on the agenda during the workshop was the topic of future proofing one’s career path and optimising opportunities. Participants enjoyed engaging group discussions and the banter filled the room in role-playing situations. The lead-up to the portion of Skills Profiling started off with questioning the need to do so: It is summed up nicely here:
- Helps to assess personal capabilities and potentials
- Provides an entry point for career conversations
- Provides opportunities for work collaborations
- Motivates oneself for more successes
- Differentiates oneself from another
The participants used the Skills Profiling Report for Individuals (SPRI) tool to help them define their skills sets precisely. Powered by Big Data, the participants had the following tangible takeaways and learning points from the SPRI:
- Basic Principles of a Skills Portfolio
- Valid information of the Skills defined for the job
- Reliable sources of information that suggests one’s certain skill
- Current skill sets that is required of the immediate situation
- Sufficient opportunities to prove one’s competence / expertise
