Over 60 alumni, students and staff witnessed the launch of the SMU City Samba Alumni Group on 26th August 2017 at Robertson Quay.
Founded by the alumni of SMU Samba Masala and birthed out of a strong love for percussion and performing, the SMU City Samba is a contemporary percussion group that aims to deliver Afro-Brazilian beats that are relevant to the soundscape of today.
Earlier that evening, 20 of the SMU City Samba members performed at the annual Singapore Night Festival @ Singapore Arts Museum. The performance marked City Samba’s debut performance, which featured an amalgamation of urban street styles enlivened by energetic beats and dynamic choreography.
Keep your ears peeled as we reimagine classic beats and bring to you a new sound that showcases the evolution of our musicality through an invigorating delivery like never before. For more information on the Group, visit the SMU City Samba Alumni Group page.
