On 16 November 2017 (Thursday), the Sino Alumni Group organised a professional networking session where SMU alumni had an invaluable opportunity to interact with professionals and experts in the field of wealth management.
The event kicked off with welcome speeches by Ms. Zhang Xi, President of the Sino Alumni Group, and Assoc. Prof. Low Aik Meng, Director of Office of Alumni Relations (OAR).
Mr. Freddy Lim, Co-Founder & Chief Investment Officer of StashAway, was then invited to share his view regarding the prospects of wealth management, highlighting key concepts such as robo advisory, deep learning algorithms and crowdfunding.
Thereafter, the panel discussion was moderated by Dr. Paul Griffin, Associate Professor of School of Information Systems and Director of Financial Technology and Analytics, together with four panellists who are experts from the financial sector, to share their insights on the future of wealth management.

The panelists discussed topics regarding how they would define the future of wealth management industry and emphasized key drivers including customization and digitalization. Interesting questions regarding cryptocurrency, automation and investment were raised by participants and addressed by panellists.
The high energy for the evening did not dissipate at the end of the panel discussion, as participants continued to interact and converse over food and drinks. All in all, it was a good time of networking and mingling with many industry experts and alumni freely interacting.
