On 10 November 2017 (Friday), The Mentoring Circle (TMC) held an open concept alumni-student social event where SMU students had an opportunity to interact with SMU alumni from a broad spectrum of industries such as consulting, marketing, social enterprise, and finance.
The event was the first open event such that TMC members could invite an SMU student to attend. This inclusive concept is part of TMC’s grander vision of catalysing a more cohesive SMU community by building stronger alumnus-senior-junior relationships not just between the 69 official TMC mentors and mentees.
The 5 panelists were:
- Hans Carter (BBM, 2016)
- Astha Kalbag (BBM, 2013)
- Varun Agarwal (BBM, 2013)
- Cheong Yong Qiang (BBM, 2016)
- Evelyn Yap (BBM, 2013)
The alumni panelists discussed topics regarding how they would define being a good professional, as well as what would be one thing that they would have done differently.
Thereafter, it was a good time of networking and mingling whereby alumni, seniors and juniors could freely interact. All in all, the event went smoothly and TMC hopes to have more such events in the future.
