Let’s Celebrate, Class of 2007!
11 November 2017 (Saturday) saw close to 60 alumni, their partners and children gathered at The ALcove to celebrate 10 years since their graduation from university. It was certainly a memorable moment for everyone as they reconnected with old friends and reminisced about their shared experiences in the past.
With the intention to promote a holistic approach to healthy living amongst the alumni, the reunion began with a wellness talk by Mahota Singapore. Health Advocate Mr Edwin Low extolled the benefits of juicing and how to go about doing it the right way. Following the informative session, Assoc. Prof. Low Aik Meng (Director, Office of Alumni Relations), welcomed the Class of 2007. In his welcoming remarks, Assoc. Prof. Low thanked everyone for attending the event and urged them to stay connected to the University and take up memberships with the Singapore Management University Alumni Association (SMUAA). Before inviting everyone to lunch and whet their appetites over the buffet spread specially put together by B3 Bistro, he ended his remarks by expressing his gratitude to members of the Reunion Outreach Committee for their personal outreach efforts to invite their classmates back for the reunion.
Squeals of laughter pierced through the cacophony of reunion chatter and conversations from kids as they were captivated by the twisting skills of the balloon sculpturist, and delighted by the many creations dreamed up by Ash from Partymojo. Our alumni were also able to get their hands dirty (both figuratively and literally) to build their own mini-terrariums with Ricky from The Green Capsule and take them home as commemorative door gifts.
“Thanks to the Office of Alumni Relations for organizing. I had a great time catching up with the rest”, said Ms Hor Mei Ying (BAcc, 2003).
“It was fun to catch up with the rest” echoed Mr Gao Lu (BSc (Econs) / BBM 2007) who attended with his spouse Katharynn and their 7-month old baby Emery.
Mr Gao Lu was the inaugural recipient of the Li Ka Shing Endowed Scholarship and established the Hong Kong Alumni Chapter as its founding President in 2011.
It was indeed a great time for one and all to catch up, renew friendships and promise to remain in touch.
We look forward to the Class of 2008's 10th Year Reunion in 2018!
