About 75 alumni and students came together to network, share experiences and catch up on developments at SMU and with one another at the SMU interaction Night for Past and Present Alumni and Student leaders on 3rd March 2017.
Held at the alumni bistro B3 in SMU basement concourse, alumni and students from the SMU Students Association, Student Association Council, Constituent Clubs, SMU Alumni Association, Alumni Groups, Alumni Ambassadors, etc. participated in fun games and engaged in interesting discussions over their common interests.
The fundamental belief that bonds forged during student experience in SMU are enduring forms the basis of SMU Interaction Nights. This initiative which started in 2015 was designed to facilitate meaningful interactions and is aligned with SMU’s 2025 vision of building a deeper engagement among students and alumni. These events featured different themes that provide a platform of collegial sharing and camaraderie with the aim of connecting students with alumni.
"It is always a pleasure to meet my juniors and discuss about trends in the industry and share my experiences. It is also through these interactions that I get to learn more about the developments in my alma mater. Coming from the same groups, clubs or schools, it is easy to strike a conversation with anyone because of our common backgrounds or shared interests." President of SIS Alumni Group Kevin Chan (BSc (ISM), 2011) shared.
Emcee for the night, Mr Vincent Tan, Assistant Manager from the SMU Office of Alumni Relations (OAR) welcomed the crowd and led the audience in a interactive game of Bingo! OAR Director Associate Professor also gave an opening address and encouraged alumni and students to make use of such platforms to network and build bonds with one another to build a cohesive SMU community.
Following the speech, Alumni Ambassador and alumnus from the pioneer batch of Class of 2004, Nadir Zafar (below) gave a short sharing on his SMU and life experiences.
Current President of SMU Students Association Seah Zhiyan (below) shared with alumni and fellow students on the current development and plans for the student community. The event ended with a group photo and a lucky draw where three lucky winners walked away with prizes sponsored by OAR.
