The SMU MBA Alumni Group kicked off their first reunion of the year on 17th of February 2017. The event was held at FIVE Square at Great Eastern Centre with the objective to establish the relationship between the current batch of MBA students and MBA alumni. The MBA Alumni Group shared with everyone an overview of all the exciting events that the MBA Alumni Group EXCO has planned for the SMU MBA community.
The Office of Alumni Relations was on hand to help with the registration of the participants and provide name tags to facilitate better interaction. The crowd started streaming in from 7pm and although an initial 70 pax signed up for the event, the final count was a resounding 120 and most only left when the venue is closed for the day at around midnight. The MBA Alumni Group EXCO went around to ensure everyone had drinks and food and were mingling with someone besides their own batch mates and everyone was sportingly game to widen their network.
The team is grateful to have Ms Enna Tan, Senior Associate Director, MBA Programmes and Professional Doctorates; Mr Gilbert Chua, Assistant Director, Marketing & Admissions and his team; Assoc Prof Themin Suwardy, Dean of Postgraduate Professional Programmes; and Ms Jocelyn Thng, Senior Manager, Postgraduate Alumni & Affinity Groups grace the event. Their presence was a strong affirmation of the support that SMU gives to alumni activities.
This year, the SMU MBA Alumni EXCO aims to improve the quality of their activities to ensure more alumni are engaged, be it in their professional or personal capacity. The MBA Alumni Group is looking to strengthen the MBA Woman’s Network, as the team hopes to provide more support to our ladies with our Women in Management initiative.
