9th June 2017 saw the launch of the SMU Ultimate Alumni Group hosted at the SMU University Lounge. The launch was graced by Director of Office of Alumni Relations, Associate Professor Low Aik Meng.
The Alumni Group aims to keep the spirit of the Ultimate Frisbee Club alive, by serving as a bridge between alumni, current players and the school. President Nicholas See (Class of 2016), gave an outline of the group’s plans; which featured a networking night scheduled for the second half of the year and also increasing touchpoints for alumni to mentor current players in various aspects (i.e. frisbee, studies, career advice etc.).
The night brought back generations of the SMU Ultimate family, returning to their alma mater for a night of fun, food and games. With a “Know Thy Teammates” quiz that brought up fond (and entertaining) memories and an inter-batch boat race that got our competitive juices flowing, the night was filled with much laughter and reminiscences. Many of the alumni present at the launch expressed great interest in attending the next event and were also excited to help spread the news of the group’s launch with their fellow batch mates.
Many thanks to all the alumni who made the time to attend the launch and see you all at the next event! Special mention to the Office of Alumni Relations as well as B3 for helping to put all the preparations together to make the launch night possible!
