On 17 November 2017, the SMU Ambassadorial Corp (ASMU) Alumni Group was launched at the University Lounge, with 75 SMU alumni, students, staff and guests in attendance. Special guests included Ms. Bernadette Toh (ex-Director of then Office of Global Learning) and Ms. Elain Sim (Head of Diversity, Inclusion & Integration under Office of Dean of Students) amongst other SMU staff.
The evening was kicked off with a Welcome Address by Assoc Prof Low Aik Meng, Director of Office of Alumni Relations, who spoke warmly about the good work which ASMU has done over the years as exemplary Student Ambassadors for the university.
Mr. Shawn Ho (BSc (Econs), 2011), President of the ASMU Alumni Group, then took to the stage to welcome alumni from different years who were present. The EXCO members were also introduced (pictured below).
Dr. Margaret Chan was also invited to the stage who gave an impromptu speech about the history of ASMU and how it was set up. She reminisced and waxed lyrical about the fun times and challenges which ASMU faced, and wished the current batch of ASMU members many more years ahead.
With the cutting of the beautiful customized cake with the ambassadorial motto "Live, Love, Share", the ASMU Alumni Group was officially launched.
