For those who are unaware, we had new developments to the campus buildings in SMU! One of which is the newly renovated SMU gymnasium (gym). The old gym had been converted into much needed study places for SMU students. Hence the SMU gym has been relocated to just next to the Big Steps at SIS Building Basement Concourse. This new gym’s opening brings a refreshing change, especially for gym buffs who really prefer a good view as they tone their muscles. Spanning across three levels, the third level of the gym is now above ground, overseeing the Campus Green. Students, faculty, staff or alumni can view the greenery and also spot the National Museum and the Singapore Arts Museum through the glass panels of the gym as they work on the machines.
The Office of Alumni Relations organised a gym tour exclusively for SMU alumni on 26th August 2016. The alumni who returned to view the new gym were given a private tour followed by food and drinks at B3 - the SMU alumni cafe just across the gym at the basement concourse. With new equipment and improved facilities in the shower rooms, alumni were glad to also note that expansion would be done to the gym in the upcoming months. We look forward to seeing more alumni coming to campus to enjoy the new gymnasium!
