Over 130 alumni, industry partners and SMU staff interacted and networked at the SMU Industry Night for alumni in the Information Technology Sector on 27 August 2015.
Held at Empire, representatives from companies such as Google, Ernest & Young, Microsoft, GrabTaxi and Lazada were present to reach out to alumni, many of whom have over five years of working experience. Kevin Chan, President of the SIS Alumni Group (BSc ISM, Class of 2011) felt that the event was a "A great networking night with excellent opportunities to meet new people to share and gain new industry insights".
Organised by SMU Office of Alumni Relations (OAR), SMU President graced the event with an opening speech and welcomed alumni in the penthouse lounge 45 levels above the Central Business District. Vice Provost (Research) and Dean of SIS, Professor Steven Miller connected with SIS alumni and represented OAR in giving out lucky draw prizes.

Amrit Singh Sidhu (BSc ISM, Class of 2012)) from SMU Alumni Association (SMUAA) shared his experience as an alumnus and SMUAA Exco member. At the end of the night, he said, "I had fun catching up with old friends and making new ones. I think industry nights are great as it helps professionals learn about other industries in a casual setting. Looking forward to the next one!"

The SMU Industry Nights provide a platform for alumni to expand their professional network of contacts. Each event is focused on a specific industry and held at a conducive venue in the Central Business District. Through networking over drinks and canapes, alumni can get to meet with hiring managers from various organisations and gain access to career opportunities.
