On 6 March 2026, the #OARsome team gathered with students nominated as Class Alumni Leaders for their graduating cohorts, together with current Class Alumni Leaders, at SMU ALCove for a session on the Class Alumni Leader role.
The conversation centred on what the role looks like in practice and the kind of impact Class Alumni Leaders can have within their cohorts after graduation. What struck us most wasn't just the turnout, but the quality of engagement. There were thoughtful questions, open sharing of perspectives, and a clear sense of curiosity about how they might stay connected with SMU beyond their student years and contribute meaningfully to strengthening the alumni community and amplifying OAR’s engagement efforts.
For a Friday at the tail end of a packed week, the energy in the room said a lot. It's always encouraging when people come ready to engage, and this group did exactly that.
Graduation season is just around the corner, and we look forward to welcoming this group into the growing community of Class Alumni Leaders.
