On 22 July 2026, the Office of Alumni Relations hosted the inaugural SMU Class Alumni Leaders Investiture, formally welcoming newly appointed Class Alumni Leaders from the Classes of 2025, 2026 and 2027.
Nominated by their respective Schools for their leadership, commitment and influence within the SMU community, these alumni have taken on a new role beyond graduation. As Class Alumni Leaders, they will help their cohorts stay connected with one another and SMU, while strengthening the University’s alumni network for years to come.
The event was attended by School representatives and University leaders, including SMU Provost Professor Alan Chan. In his address, Professor Chan congratulated the newly appointed Class Alumni Leaders and encouraged them to continue making a difference by strengthening connections within their cohorts and the wider SMU alumni community.
In her welcome address, Florence Neo (Assoc Alum), Director of the Office of Alumni Relations, reminded the newly appointed leaders that while their student leadership chapter may have come to a close, their impact is only just beginning.
The investiture also celebrated the Class Alumni Leader community across generations, as returning leaders joined the occasion to welcome the newly appointed leaders and mark the continued growth of the community.
During the session, OAR shared the various ways it will support Class Alumni Leaders in organising reunions, engaging their classmates and creating meaningful opportunities for alumni to reconnect. Leaders were also encouraged to rally their cohorts for upcoming initiatives, beginning with SMU Alumni Homecoming 2026 happening in August.
Congratulations once again to all our Class Alumni Leaders, both newly appointed and returning. Thank you for choosing to continue serving the SMU community. We look forward to working alongside you to build an even more vibrant and connected alumni network.
