On 2 July 2026, the SMU School of Accountancy (SOA) Alumni Chapter welcomed alumni from different graduating cohorts to celebrate the start of a new term and the introduction of its Executive Committee for 2026–2027.
Leading the Chapter into this new term, the Executive Committee will champion the Chapter's efforts to strengthen alumni engagement and foster a vibrant SOA alumni community:

Beyond welcoming its new Executive Committee, attendees gained fresh insights into Agentic AI and Claude Code through a session led by Timothy and Assistant Professor Benjamin Lee (BAcc 2016). Benjamin shared how SMU is evolving its accountancy curriculum to prepare graduates for an AI-enabled profession, while Timothy demonstrated the practical capabilities of AI agents through a live demonstration of Claude Code.
Their presentations sparked thoughtful discussions on how AI is reshaping the accounting and finance profession and what this means for both current practitioners and future graduates.
We congratulate the new Executive Committee on their appointments and look forward to partnering with them to strengthen alumni engagement, create meaningful opportunities for the SOA community and continue building a vibrant and connected alumni network.
