On 30 July 2026, our SMU ALCove welcomed alumni from more than a decade of SMU's MSc in Applied Finance (MAF) programme, bringing graduates from different cohorts together under one roof.
Academic Directors Prof Chan Soon Huat (Full-time MAF) and Prof John Sequeira (Part-time MAF) welcomed alumni, before the Office of Alumni Relations shared how graduates can stay connected and benefit from its initiatives.
Interactive games encouraged alumni to connect beyond their own graduating classes, creating opportunities to meet fellow MAF alumni they may not have crossed paths with before.
The gathering also marked the formal introduction of the newly appointed 4th MAF Alumni Group Executive Committee:

Ian Chong, CFA (MAF 2016, MITB 2022), AVP at Acadian Asset Management, shared practical insights on navigating an AI-enabled finance landscape, drawing on his experiences in the industry. Conversations continued over dinner, giving alumni the opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces and get to know fellow graduates from other cohorts.
