SMU alumna and sprint queen Shanti Pereira will compete in the 100m and 200m at the Paris Olympics. Shanti became a local sports icon after her 2015 SEA Games success, but later faced setbacks due to injuries and personnel changes. With the help of Portuguese coach Luis Cunha, she transformed her mindset and saw significant success in 2023, winning golds at the SEA Games and Asian Championships, and setting a national record at the World Championships. Despite a recent calf injury, Shanti is back to training and looking forward to the Olympics.
