SMU alumna Wang Yunqing, who graduated from SMU with a degree in psychology, began volunteering at a children's home during her secondary school years. After graduation, she entered the field of social assistance, and joined a community link centre 10 years ago as a Social Assistance Officer. As the first point of contact for low-income families seeking assistance, Social Assistance Officers like Yunqing assess housing, financial, educational, health, and psychological needs before connecting them with different agencies or finding other forms of support. She is now one of the first graduates to work as a Family Coach, guiding these families as they overcome difficulties and grow.
