In Parliament on Feb 27, SMU alumnus and Nominated Member of Parliament Mohamed Irshad touched on the importance of transforming learning and providing young Singaporeans with opportunities to gain working experience abroad. He also urged the government to transform our institutes of higher learning (IHLs) to prepare our youths for the future. Mr Irshad cited the example of the SMU-X programme, which provides an experiential learning framework for students to tackle real-world challenges. He added that SMU-X has been lauded by global accreditation body AACSB International as an ‘innovation that inspires’ and urged the government to consider expanding such programmes to all IHLs.
