Over 120 alumni, industry partners, staff, faculty and students attended the SMU Industry Night for alumni in the Banking and Financial Services sectors on 24th May 2017. Held at Smoke & Mirrors at National Gallery Singapore, the event is the second instalment under the SMU Industry Night series for the year.
Organised by Office of Alumni Relations (OAR) and SMU Alumni Association (SMUAA), the SMU Industry Night series provides a platform for alumni in the same industry to meet and to expand their professional networks. The five Industry Nights planned for 2017 focus on different industries.
“It was a great networking session among industry peers at a perfect downtown location. It was also a valuable session for soon-to-be graduates as many of them managed to connect with alumni who are now in senior positions in banks to pursue career opportunities in that sector.” SMUAA Exco Member Jolyn Chua (BSc (Econs) 2011) recalled of the event.
Another SMUAA Exco member and emcee for the night Jay See (BBM 2007, MWM 2013) welcomed the crowd and introduced the various industry partners and hiring managers who were present to network with alumni over drinks and light bites, whilst enjoying splendid views of iconic Padang and Marina Bay.
No stranger to the alumni community, Director of OAR Associate Professor Low Aik Meng encouraged alumni to continue participating in the suite of events available for alumni. Four lucky winners walked away with lucky draw prizes at the end of the evening.
The next Industry Night will be held in August for alumni in the travel and hospitality industries.
