On 22 November 2017 (Wednesday), the Office of Alumni Relations organised an Appreciation Lunch for student leaders, held at The ALcove. Over 90 representatives from the current and incoming executive committees of SMU Students’ Association (SMUSA), International Connection (ICON), the 6 School Constituent Bodies (CBds) and the 4 CCA CBds attended the event. Dr Bervyn Lee, current Associate Dean of Students and incoming Director of Office of Alumni Relations, warmly welcomed the student leaders, taking the opportunity to thank the current EXCOs for their contribution to the SMU community. The student leaders were treated to the latest menu from The Alcove, including the piping hot thin-crust pizzas, which proved popular amongst the attendees.
It was a great opportunity for the student leaders to get to know the OAR team and the SMU Alumni Association (SMUAA) team over yummy bites and refreshing drinks. Conversation flowed freely, and many student leaders relished the chance to catch up with their peers before the stress of examinations. The ALcove provided the facilities for the event – with dart machines, pool tables, and a sumptuous buffet to keep everyone entertained and in high spirits.
As our future alumni, student leaders are important partners in fostering a passionate and highly engaged alumni community in SMU. We would like to thank all student leaders who took time out of their busy schedules in the middle of Study Week to join us for this Appreciation Lunch.
