CONGRATULATIONS!
Ms Deborah Wee (President, SMUAA) presenting the SMUAA CCA award to the representatives of the 3 Clubs.
President of SMU Floorball Club, Mr Muhammad Hamzah said “This award would definitely go a long way towards providing the crucial funds required for SMU Floorball to further implement events that benefit our club members, the SMU community as well as external organisations. I look forward to organising more club events to contribute to the SMU community and enhance the quality of student life in school. With the award, we are extremely motivated to continue hosting such meaningful programs as we strive to benefit the student community and further propel the identity of our club.” | ||
Vice-President of SMU Climb Team, Mr Abel Khoo added, “I would like to say that we are humbled to receive this award and credit goes to every single current member and alumnus for their efforts in sustaining this climbing family. As the semester closes to a close, we begin to congratulate graduating students and welcome them back as our alumni, our biggest batch yet. We continually seek to build a strong and familial climbing community and this award encourages us and our future batches in this endeavour. It is our belief that receiving this award does not mean our efforts in alumni engagement are sufficient (it should never be sufficient), rather that we are hopefully heading in a good direction. We should not rest on our laurels, but give back to our alumni who have built and sustained this club before us. The funding will provide us with greater flexibility with our plans and allows us to better put ideas into actions. We hope to become a bigger and strong community year on year. Once again, we like to thank SMUAA for this award. |

President of SMU Sailing Club, Mr Clement Lim Hao Ying has also expressed his pleasant surprise that this is the first time that SMU Sailing has won the SMUAA CCA Award and that their efforts in engaging the fellow alumni have been recognised by SMUAA. “ Our clubs' undergraduates always hold their alumni (seniors) in high regard. Not just because they are good at what they do in the sport, but rather, because they have always been the ones we turn to whenever we need help or advice. Today, we are proud to have our alumni still committed to the club. This award proves that we are heading in the right direction, with regards to the way we show appreciation to our alumni, and encourages us to take this opportunity to do better by them.” |
