SMU Challenge 2015 on 5 September was well participated by the SMU community. The response was encouraging with more than 220 alumni, students, staff and faculty taking part in the annual Walkathon. Some alumni partnered with a beneficiary to walk the 6.1km route from SMU to the Marina Bay Area and back to campus.
This year, SMU Challenge collaborated with the Central Singapore Community Development Council (CSCDC) to raise awarenesss and promote inclusion of the special needs community. A series of beneficiary interaction sessions, named the Purple Outings was organised from June to August. During the Outings, student volunteers hosted and accompanied members from the Singapore Association for the Deaf (SADeaf), Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDAS) and the Down Syndrome Association (DSA) on exciting outings to locations such as Universal Studios Singapore, the Singapore Art Museum and the Human Body Exhibition at the Science Centre.
