founder & CEO, tomal global
Joy Lim is an alumna who doesn't view the entrepreneurial world as one between men and women. Born into a family business of raw materials, Joy founded Tomal Global Pte Ltd, a company that utilises the best source materials to develop customisation in the water filtration industry. In a world dominated by men, Joy bucks the trend by embarking on an entrepeneurial journey to dispel the myth that only men can succeed in the business world. With her chutzpah, Joy is poised to break through the proverbial glass ceiling.
Joy Lim (above) founded Tomal Gobal Pte Ltd, a water filtration company that specializes in customizing solutions for a wide spectrum of industrial needs. Joy also believes in social causes, using Tomal's technology to bring refined drinking water to Cambodia in a bid to improve the health of locals.
Alan Phua (BBM, 2010) is an SMU alumnus on a mission to create low Glycemic Index (low GI) carbohydrates such as rice, noodles, pasta etc. without compromising on taste. All of this is a bid to combat the diabetes epidemic in Singapore and worldwide. Alan is intent on making the world a healthier place, and we couldn't be prouder.
alan phua (Bbm, 2010)
ceo & co-founder, alchemy foodtech
Alan Phua is no ordinary foodie. This is a man on a mission to combat the worldwide epidemic of diabetes by creating low glycemic index (GI) carbohydrate staples (think rice, bread, noodles, pasta etc.) without compromising on taste. Enter his food research & technology company, Alchemy Foodtech, which he co-founded. Its sole aim is enabling consumers to improve their health without giving up on their beloved carbs that are the cause of diabetes Type 2. For wanting to effect change and make the world a healthier (and safer) place, it is no wonder that Alan has made it to our list as one of SMU's Inspiring Alumni.
