Angela Kwok
Senior Assistant Manager, Events and Partnerships

Areas of responsibility in OAR: 

  • Events Management for OAR's signature events
  • International Alumni in Singapore
  • Alumni Privilege Programme

In her previous organisations, Angela was involved in Business Development, Information Technology and Marketing. She also brings to the team her experience in events management through her volunteering experiences.


Eileen Choo
Senior Assistant Manager, Office Administration and Finance

  • Work-Study Grant Students Management

Prior to SMU, Eileen was in the cruise industry with a finance portfolio for eight years.

Ivy Wong
Senior Assistant Manager, Communications and Overseas Chapters

Ivy is an alumna of SMU, where she graduated with a summa cum laude from the Lee Kong Chian School of Business majoring in Corporate Communication and Operations. Prior to joining the Office of Alumni Relations, she was part of the University Events team in SMU’s Office of Corporate Communications and Marketing.

Chan Chew Seng
Senior Manager, Data Administration and IT Management


Lee Sok Yuen

Before joining OAR, Chew Seng was with the Integrated Information Technology Services (IITS) in SMU. Prior to joining SMU, Chew Seng had worked with several MNCs in manufacturing, oil & gas, banking industry and in the last five years with the Education sector.

  • The Mentoring Circle (Student-to-Student Mentoring student club)
  • Student-alumni engagement
With a passion for youth development, Sok Yuen joined the SMU Office of Student Life in 2010 and oversaw the development, growth and operations of student groups ranging from the SMU Students’ Association, SMU Ambassadorial Corps, special interest and sports clubs. Most recently, she was also part of the pioneer team that started the newly minted Student Services Hub in SMU, before joining OAR in Dec 2017. Prior to joining SMU, she worked at Outward Bound Singapore as an instructor and a Programme Manager for seven years.


Jason Tan
Senior Manager, Alumni Communities

An extension of his previous role as a student affairs practitioner for eight years at the National University of Singapore, Jason joined in March 2017 and brings to the team his experience and insights in community engagement and development.

Jocelyn Thng
Senior Manager, Alumni Communities

  • Class Alumni Representatives I/C

  • Alumni Groups based on common affinities, causes etc.

Jocelyn was previously from NTU Development Office where her focus was in managing the phonathon programme and annual giving campaigns.

Jeanine Chen
Assistant Director, Professional Development

Prior to joining SMU, Jeanine worked in the arena of global marketing for an MNC in the technology sector. She has worked in both private and public education sectors, most significantly in alumni work at the NUS Business School, where she was a founding member of the Global Alumni Network Office.

Sam Wu
Head, Communications and Overseas Chapters

  • Alumni Advisory Council

Sam taught English and Marketing Communications in City University of Hong Kong, where he also oversaw student development and internationalisation matters (internships, exchange programmes, & study missions) at college and departmental levels. After 10 years in Hong Kong, he joined SMU’s (then) Office of Global Learning (now International Office) in September 2014 for three years, creating and running the SMU Global Summer Programme, as well as being in charge of all inbound and outbound short-term programmes.

Adeline Bek
Head, Programmes and Partnerships

Adeline’s role is to forge partnerships, strategise, lead and manage the team in the following areas:  

  • PG & UG Student and Alumni Engagement
  • Volunteer Management
  • PG, Affinity, School Chapters & AGs, Alumni leaders and Events
  • Class Alumni Reps Programme
  • Oversight of Class Reunions
  • Database, IT Systems and Analytics
  • OAR’s Major Events

Adeline’s career experience spanned the private, public and non-profit sectors. She previously headed teams at the National University of Singapore (NUS) Office of Alumni Relations, Home Nursing Foundation and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), Asia-Pacific.


Andrew Tam
Head, Alumni Development and Outreach


Andrew's role is to forge partnerships, strategise, lead and manage the team in the following areas:

  • PG & UG Student and Alumni Engagement
  • Volunteer Management
  • Oversight of Industry Nights
  • CCA-based Groups and Alumni Leaders
  • Alumni and Student Mentoring
  • Oversight - Alumni Career Management
  • Oversight - Professional Development Programme
  • Company & Industry Alumni Groups
  • Liaison with SMUAA
  • Oversight of The ALcove, an alumni space

Andrew is a familiar face to SMU, having worked in the Office of Student Life from 2003 to 2015 where he developed SMU’s sailing programme from scratch to one that is recognised across the region. As one of the pioneer staff, he also set up the Freshmen Team Building (FTB), SMU’s Patron Day and created the SMU’s Art Festival when SMU was located in Bukit Timah Campus. Andrew was with the Singapore Sailing Federation as its Chief Executive for two years before returning to SMU.

Dr. Bervyn Lee


Dr. Bervyn Lee joined SMU in January 2013 as Director of the Office of Student Life.  In June 2015 he moved on to the role of Associate Dean of Students, a position he held till 1 February 2018 when he took over as Director of the Office of Alumni Relations (OAR). Until this most recent move, Dr. Lee focused his efforts on developing the learning framework within the co-curriculum, resulting in SMU LifeLessons and its tools (
An educator at heart, Dr. Lee started his career teaching English and Physical Education before joining the National Institute of Education (NIE) in 1995 and was Head of the School of Physical Education and Sports Science from 2004 to 2006. He received his PhD from the University of Wollongong, has worked extensively with athletes, coaches, and educators in the field of sport and exercise psychology, and as an executive coach in the SAF. Dr. Lee left NIE in 2006 and joined the Singapore Sports Council (SSC; now Sports Singapore) in various capacities before leaving to join SMU.
Bervyn is married with two children. It is his role as a father that has taught him most about living life with a clear purpose, only meaningful when devoted to the good of others – a perspective he carries in OAR.
