Angela Kwok
Assistant Manager, Event Management and Alumni Engagement

In her previous organisations, Angela Kwok was involved in Business Development, Information Technology and Marketing. She also brings to the team her experience in events management through her volunteering experiences. 

Areas of responsibility in OAR: 

  • Events Management for OAR's signature events in consultation with Event I/Cs
  • International Alumni
  • Alumni Privileges

Vincent Tan
Assistant Manager, Undergraduate Alumni

Vincent started his career in a public transport company overseeing the community relations and outreach efforts. He moved on to work in the social service sector which involved the rehabilitation of juvenile youths, and his area of responsibilities included the planning and facilitating of rehabilitation programmes, and volunteer management. Before joining OAR, Vincent was with the SMU Lee Kong Chian School of Business (LKCSB) responsible for postgraduate admissions.

Eileen Choo
Senior Assistant Manager, Office Administration and Finance

Prior to SMU, Eileen was in the cruise industry with a finance portfolio for eight years.

Chan Chew Seng
Senior Manager, Data Administration and IT Management


Before joining OAR, Chew Seng was with the Integrated Information Technology Services (IITS) in SMU. Prior to joining SMU, Chew Seng had worked with several MNCs in manufacturing, oil & gas, banking industry and in the last five years with the Education sector.

Jason Tan
Senior Manager, Undergraduate Alumni and Interest Groups

An extension of his previous role as a student affairs practitioner for eight years at the National University of Singapore, Jason joined in March 2017 and brings to the team his experience and insights in community engagement and development. Jason is dedicated to develop and cultivate synergistic partnerships with the vibrant SMU alumni community that not only enlivens and maximises alumni involvement but also strengthens a cohesive alumni network with a lifelong connection to SMU.

Jocelyn Thng
Senior Manager, Postgraduate Alumni and Affinity Groups

Jocelyn was previously from NTU Development Office where her focus was in managing the phonathon programme and annual giving campaigns.

Valerie Koh
Senior Manager, Marketing and Communications

Valerie brings to the team her experience in alumni marketing communications having worked in the alumni offices at NUS and Singapore Polytechnic. Her past employers also include Sentosa Cove and the National Trades Union Congress. In OAR, she spearheads and manages the department's Marketing and Communications initatives.

Jeanine Chen
Assistant Director, Alumni Professional Development and Industry Engagement

Prior to joining SMU, Jeanine worked in the arena of global marketing for an MNC in the technology sector. Returning to the education sector where she first started out her career is akin to a homecoming of sorts. Jeanine has worked in both private and public education sectors, most significantly in alumni work at the NUS Business School, where she was a founding member of the Global Alumni Network Office.

Adeline Bek
Associate Director, Programmes and Partnerships

Adeline’s career experience spanned the private, public and non-profit sectors. She previously headed teams at the National University of Singapore (NUS) Office of Alumni Relations, Home Nursing Foundation and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), Asia-Pacific.

Adeline’s current role is to develop integrated alumni engagement strategies and programmes, and foster partnerships with SMU Offices, Schools, SMU Alumni Association and External Industry Partners. She leads the team in the following areas:

  • Volunteer Management
  • Postgraduate, Affinity, Company and Industry Alumni Groups

Andrew Tam
Associate Director, Alumni Engagement and Outreach

Andrew is a familiar face to SMU, having worked in the Office of Student Life from 2003 to 2015 where he developed SMU’s sailing programme from scratch to one that is recognised across the region. As one of the pioneer staff, he also set up the Freshmen Team Building (FTB), SMU’s Patron Day and created the SMU’s Art Festival when SMU was located in Bukit Timah Campus.

Andrew was with the Singapore Sailing Federation as its Chief Executive for two years before returning to SMU. Joining the team at Office of Alumni Relations, his current role is to forge partnerships with Schools and offices, as well as strategise, lead and manage the team in the following areas:

Associate Professor Low Aik Meng 

Associate Professor Low Aik Meng is one of the first three employees of SMU, when he joined the start-up team on 1 April 1998 to plan for the university's formation. When SMU was established in 2000, he became the founding Dean of Students. His previous academic experience included 12 years at NUS where he was Vice-Dean at the School of Accountancy and Business; and another 12 years from 1986 to 1998 at NTU where he was Vice-Dean of the Nanyang Business School. He was also the founding Director of the Nanyang MBA Programme which he helmed from 1991 till 1998, when he left to join the SMU start-up team.

After stepping down as Dean of Students on 1 July 2011, he resumed his teaching duties at SMU's School of Accountancy which included two overseas study missions annually for students. He considers his work in the Office of Alumni Relations as an extension of his previous role as Dean of Students. He and his team will reach out to and engage alumni, with the aim of building strong alumni networks and fostering lifelong relationships between SMU graduates and their alma mater.
